Restoring Communities, Culture & the Environment

The Urban Wilderness Project works to restore and encourage positive communities by providing four environmentally and culturally based service-learning "Works" programs for youth and adults. Participants earn service hours in all four programs.
ADVENTURE WORKS
Guides youth and adult participants through urban wild places to explore, enjoy and protect them.

GRIOT WORKS
Trains youth and adult participants to become storytellers through workshops and performances in their community.

RESTORATION WORKS
Trains youth and adult volunteers to restore positive perceptions about the natural world through installations combining murals, photos, poems, stories and hands-on natural restoration projects.

WILDERNESS WORKS
Provides a 17-day wilderness trip for high school students in Washington's wild places. Youth earn all 60 of the community service-learning hours required for graduation.
